Solar Array Chart

Below is a simple solar panel array chart which you can use to determine how many and what size solar panels you will need to power what it is you wish to power. The numbers below are explained in order.

1. Find out what the average hours per day in your particular area the sun light can be used.  For a chart of yearly average sun hours in the U.S. visit the sun map

2. Enter the amount of watts you consume in one day.  To evaluate your power consumption please use the load evaluation chart.  More on power consumption.

3. Is when you divide line 2 by line 1.  This is how many watts you will need to be generated by your solar panel array per hour of useful solar energy.

4. Is the size of the solar panels you plan on using.  In the example below the panel size is 92.3 watts.  Take that solar panel watt total and divide it into the amount in line 3.

5. This numeber then is how many 92.3 watts solar panels you will need to generate 200 watts per useful solar hour.
